A Country Crowd, Already Through the Gate

Cowboys & Country is our western festival on the riverside lawns: a whip-cracking show by Ringers Western, live country music, line dancing, horses and alpacas. It costs a family $5 to park and come in for the day, so they stay and browse while they are here. We hold a run of market sites along the crowd's path, and this is where you apply for one. We run it on the Saturdays listed below for the rest of the year. Book one, several, or all of them.

  • Next 19 September Saturday
  • 10 October Saturday

What brings the crowd

The Day You'd Be Trading Into

People come for the programme and stay for hours. There is music and dancing, there are horses and animals, and the market sites trade alongside the programme all day.

Live Country Music

Bands through the day on the lawn stage, with line dancing between sets.

Ringers Western Whip Cracking

The whip-cracking show draws the whole crowd to one spot, then releases it.

Horses & Alpacas

Horse rides and animal feeding keep children on site for the afternoon.

Jumping Castle

One more reason a family stays past lunch rather than driving home.

What we look for

Stalls That Suit a Country Day

Visitors arrive in hats and boots and are in the mood for the part. Work that is made, grown or found by the person selling it does best on these lawns.

Western & Country Goods

Hats, boots, belts, buckles and leatherwork, bought on the day they are worn.

Craft & Handmade

Woodwork, pottery, soap and textiles made by the person at the table.

Clothing & Fashion

Clothing and scarves with a story behind them, small labels welcome.

Plants & Garden

Potted plants, cut flowers, seedlings and things for the shed and the yard.

Homewares & Gifts

Country homewares, prints, signage and the gift someone buys on the way out.

Kids & Family Activity

Face painting, games and hands-on stalls that hold a queue of children.

Food and drink on the day are served by the Rivermill Café and our own bar, so market sites are for goods rather than catering. Packaged pantry lines are worth asking about.

How it works

From Hello to Trading Day

Four steps between your first message and 5:00 am on the Saturday. A market site is $50 per day, including GST, and nothing is committed until the information pack is in your hands.

1

Apply

Tick the Saturdays you want, choose your site size, and tell us what you sell. It takes a few minutes.

2

Information Pack

We send you the pack, with the site plan, the terms and everything you need to decide. You take it from there.

3

Confirm & Pay

You confirm your sites, pay $50 for each Saturday, and send your certificate of currency. Both can ride along with the form below if you already have them.

4

See Your Site

Come out before the day to walk your site, so you know where you set up and how you get in and out.

Expression of interest

Apply for a Market Site

Pick your Saturdays and tell us a little about your stall. These dates are the planned ones; weather moved one festival this year, June's, by a week, and if a day moves, applicants hear from us first. See the event page for the full programme.

Paying for your site

A site is $50 per day, including GST, for each Saturday you book. Pay by bank transfer with your business name as the reference, so we can match it. Payment reaches us seven days before the day you are booked for; a site unpaid at that point goes back on offer.
