Common Questions
The things families ask us most before they visit.
Is entry free, and do I need to book?
Yes — entry and parking are free, and you can walk in any day to meet the animals, wander the riverside and visit the café. A few experiences are booked ahead: horse and pony rides, riverside picnics, birthday parties and group visits. You can see what's bookable here.
What are your opening hours?
We're open seven days a week, with hours that vary by season, and we close only over the Christmas–New Year break. Check today's hours on Google.
Can we bring our own food or picnic?
All food and drinks are served fresh from our riverside café, so we ask that you don't bring your own. If you'd love a picnic by the river, we set one up for you with a hamper from the café. Guests with a confirmed birthday or event booking are welcome to bring their own cake.
Is it good for young children?
Very. Hands-on animal encounters, gentle pony rides, open space to roam and a café by the water make it an easy day out for families with little ones, and baby-changing facilities are on site.
Can we host a birthday, or bring a school or group?
Yes. We host birthday parties for children and grown-ups on weekends, and we welcome school and childcare excursions and organised group visits. Tell us your numbers and the dates you have in mind, and we'll tailor the day.
How do we get there, and is there parking?
We're at 950 Beaudesert Nerang Rd, Mount Nathan — about 30 minutes from the Gold Coast and an hour from Brisbane. Parking is free on arrival, and we're coach and school-group friendly.
About us
A Place for Fun & Connection
Historic Rivermill is a heritage farm by the river — really, a place for families, couples and friends to spend time together. There's laughter and play in the simple things: along the riverside, with the alpacas and the goats, or over a meal at our café. That's what makes Rivermill special.
