What the day is
A whole wedding venue, open to walk through
Most couples choose a venue from photographs. This wedding open day is the one chance each year to stand in it instead. The chapel, the riverbank, the jacaranda gardens and the barn are all open, at the one time of year the trees are in full purple bloom.
-
Meet the vendors
Local florists, cake makers, celebrants and photographers who already work at Rivermill, on site and ready to talk about your day.
-
See every ceremony spot
Walk the chapel, the riverbank and the jacaranda gardens, and work out which one is yours.
-
Talk to our team
Ask about dates, guest numbers, catering and accommodation, with no appointment needed.
Why November
The jacarandas are out
For a few weeks each spring the trees turn purple and the lawn goes with them. The open day is timed for it, so you see the grounds exactly as they photograph.

Brisbane & the Gold Coast
One wedding expo, an easy drive from both
Most wedding expos run in exhibition halls, with the venues on banner stands. This one is held inside the venue: a bridal expo, an open day and a venue tour rolled into one Sunday at Mount Nathan, in the Gold Coast Hinterland at the foot of Tamborine Mountain. Couples come from across South East Queensland, Brisbane and the Gold Coast alike, and entry and parking are free.
Good to know
Wedding expo questions, answered
What is a wedding expo?
A day where engaged couples meet wedding vendors in one place: florists, cake makers, celebrants and photographers, all ready to talk about your day. At Rivermill the wedding expo is also an open day, so the venue itself is open to walk, dressed as it would be for a wedding.
When is the wedding expo 2026?
Sunday 22 November 2026, 11am to 3pm, at Historic Rivermill in Mount Nathan. The date is set for the jacarandas, which are in full bloom in late November.
Is the wedding expo free?
Yes. Entry and parking are both free, and there is no booking fee. Register and attend on the day and you are also in the draw to win a free wedding ceremony.
What should we wear to a wedding expo?
Whatever you are comfortable in. Rivermill is a garden estate, so you will be walking lawns, the riverbank and the chapel; flat shoes do better than heels on the grass.
Are wedding expos worth it?
If you are choosing a venue, yes: in one afternoon you can stand in every ceremony spot, meet the vendors who already work here, and ask our team about dates and guest numbers, with no appointment needed.
Can we bring family or friends along?
Yes. Partners, parents, bridesmaids and children are all welcome, and the grounds, the animals and the cafe make it an easy day out for whoever you bring.
Is there a wedding expo near Brisbane?
Yes. Historic Rivermill is an easy drive south of Brisbane, and unlike a convention-centre bridal expo, this one is held inside the wedding venue itself, so Brisbane couples see the chapel, gardens and riverbank in one trip.
Can't wait until November? Small group venue tours run through the year, and take about forty-five minutes.
