Down at the river
Feed the Wild Turtles of the Coomera
The turtles that live in our stretch of the Coomera are wild. They come to the jetty when they feel like it, and there is a real thrill in watching a shell rise out of the tea-coloured water towards you. One of our team walks you down, tells you a little about the river and the animals in it, and hands you what you need.
Walk in, no booking
How It Goes
Feeding runs from the platform on the riverbank, always with a member of our team beside you. You feed the turtles from a stick, so nobody reaches into the water and nobody touches an animal. The food is ours to supply, chosen on our vet's advice, and every session starts with a short word about how to behave around wild animals.

Feeding pauses over winter while the water is cold, and starts again in September.

Spotting Them Yourself
You do not need us for this one. Walk quietly down to the water at any point in your visit and see how many you can count, basking on a log or breaking the surface for air. The same stretch of river holds platypus, eels and a good deal of birdlife, so it rewards standing still.
