Historic Rivermill Statement on the Ongoing RSPCA Investigation

8 March 2026

Historic Rivermill is aware of the allegations and acknowledges the ongoing investigation being conducted by the RSPCA.

Both RSPCA Queensland and the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) have independently visited Historic Rivermill and conducted thorough assessments of our operations and the welfare of all animals on site.

The alleged animal abuse claims are inaccurate and far from the truth.

“We haven’t found any issues.”

All animals were scored a Body Condition Score of 4, which he confirmed is “above store condition.” He further noted that the accommodation was sufficient for inclement weather and that there was sufficient feed.

— DPI Officer (50+ years experience working with horses)

“In relation to the cleanliness of everything, I’m actually really happy.”

“I’m happy with those horses, their feet are fine.”

— RSPCA Investigator

Historic Rivermill has always been committed to the highest standards of animal welfare and will continue to uphold that commitment.

Historic Rivermill makes no further comment pending the outcome of the investigation.
